How can you integrate colorectal cancer screening into your tour?
Prevention is a major public health issue today. Through their daily presence in the field, their proximity to the population and their role as primary care professionals, the 12,000 self-employed nurses of Nouvelle-Aquitaine occupy a central place in this mission.
In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, colorectal cancer remains a major public health problem, with 1,943 deaths annually. Yet, during the last screening campaign (2022-2023), the participation rate was only 32.4%, a decrease of 2.4 points compared to the previous period.
Faced with this situation, independent nurses have an essential role to play, a role that is now reinforced by regulatory changes.
The law relating to nursing consultation of June 2025, supplemented by the decree of December 2025, marked a clear and structuring recognition of the nursing role in prevention.
In this context, Amendment 11, signed at the end of March 2026 between the representative trade unions and the CNAM (National Health Insurance Fund), represents a decisive step forward. It now allows independent nurses to distribute colorectal cancer screening kits directly, just like doctors and pharmacists, without prior appointment and with specific coverage.
Beyond handing out the kit, the nurse's role is also relational, educational and supportive: informing, explaining, reassuring, removing barriers related to fear, embarrassment or lack of knowledge, and then ensuring follow-up.
The URPS (Regional Union of Liberal Nurses) of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Health Insurance and the CRCDC (Regional Center for Cancer Screening Coordination) invite you to an information webinar (regulatory focus, epidemiology, daily practice, testimonials…)
